Lead Story - Selling to the ‘Gadget Guys’
Siemens distributor MTV Telecom has begun a series of
high profile reseller launch seminars for the OpenOffice
ME, the unified communications platform the vendor is
aiming at the smaller SME.
The first of the events took place in front of a packed
room of resellers at the Sir William Siemens building in
Frimley Surrey where Martin Northend, Siemens Director
of Portfolio Marketing, said that his company really
understood the SME market, “We know the market is
fragmented and every SME is different. One common factor
is that generally SMEs have lower in house IT skills.
OpenOffice ME is targeted directly at early adopters of
UC and embracers of new technology. For resellers the
system is easy to configure and price”
Northend said that research showed that 25% of the SME
market were ‘gadget guys’ and perfect targets for
OpenOffice ME as they represented 53% of the IT spend in
the sector.
MTV Telecom Commercial Director Jim Robertson was keen
to point out to delegates the wireless connectivity
options of the system, “For just £214 ME provides
wireless for phones and laptops. So with all the other
out of the box system features and options the
OpenOffice ME is a great deal for user and resellers.”
